THE OBJECTIVE
Indonesia’s National Development Planning Agencies, collaborated to advance the nation’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. To achieve this, they developed the Low-Carbon Development Indonesia Simulator (LCDI Simulator), a cutting-edge tool designed to guide policy decisions by analysing the environmental and economic impact of low-carbon strategies. The initiative aimed to support Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable development while meeting global climate targets.
OUR WORK
Our team adopted a multi-faceted approach to support the development and deployment of the LCDI Simulator:
- Data-Driven Design: Collaborated with experts to integrate climate, economic, and social data into a cohesive framework.
- Interactive User Interface: Designed an intuitive platform enabling users to visualise the impact of various policy scenarios.
- Capacity Building: Conducted training sessions for policymakers, businesses, and civil society groups to maximise tool adoption.
- Custom Scenario Modelling: Enabled region-specific and sector-specific simulations to address localised challenges and opportunities.
- Monitoring and Feedback: Established mechanisms for continuous updates and refinement based on user input and evolving data.
This case study highlights the transformative potential of simulation tools in driving ESG initiatives and sustainable development. By integrating data, fostering collaboration, and enabling scenario-based decision-making, the LCDI Simulator not only advanced Indonesia’s climate goals but also set a benchmark for other nations seeking to align policy planning with global sustainability targets. This initiative serves as a model for leveraging technology to address complex environmental challenges.
